Requirements for the award of the PCE Certificate for Psychotherapists and/or Counsellors

Psychotherapists and/or counsellors who are members of a PCE Europe Member Organisation and have undertaken a certificated client/person-centred and/or experiential training are eligible to apply for a PCE Practitioner Certificate.

It is acknowledged that in different European countries counsellors and psychotherapists are recognised and registered in different ways. E.g. In Germany and the Netherlands to being called a psychotherapist there is a formal legal process of recognition and registration, in the UK the term counsellor and psychotherapist are often used to describe the same therapeutic activity and there is no formal legal registration process.

To address this PCE Europe offers a range of certificates to reflect different national recognition and registration requirements for practitioners.

Five versions of the certificate are available:

  • PCE Certificate for Psychotherapist without legal national recognition

  • PCE Certificate for Counsellors without legal national recognition

  • PCE Certificate for Psychotherapist/Counsellors without legal national recognition
This is to certify that ... (name)... has been awarded the European Certificate for Person-Centred and Experiential (Psychotherapy, Counselling or Psychotherapy/Counselling as chosen by the applicant)
