Profile:-
My name is Dániel Ács, born in 1985 in Budapest. I studied Spanish, Hungarian, and Philosophy while working as a journalist and editor for ten years before transitioning to become a counsellor. I hold a BA in Psychology and an MA in Integrative Counselling. I completed my person-centred training with the Hungarian Association for Person-Centred Psychotherapy and Counselling under the guidance of Magda Draskóczy, Yvonne Bajza, and Iván Török (2015-2020). I also completed the Open Dialogue practitioner training at Open Dialogue UK (2018-2021), learning from leading experts such as Jaakko Seikkula, Jorma Ahonen, Kari Valtanen, and Nick Putman. As the first Hungarian representative of Open Dialogue, I am dedicated to this progressive approach, which aligns with humanistic principles. I offer counselling in Hungarian and English to individuals, couples, and families, both in person and online. Most of the time, the problem is not within us but between us, so my service is facilitative conversation, which is not a medical activity but a dialogue using the tools of phenomenology, ethics, politics, and communication. What I can best offer my clients is a safe haven – even if only for an hour or two – a place where there is no shaming and no expectations. I strive to make a real connection with the person who comes to me, so they feel they are not alone. I encourage them to discover their own desires amidst the confusion between their desires and the expectations of others. I do not promise a way out of the maze, but I do promise to be an honest and persistent companion. In 2023, I moved my private practice from Hungary to Belgium, but I continue to see clients via Skype from all over the world. While I am regularly available at my office in Brussels, we can also meet in person in Budapest two or three times a year.
